The municipality confirmed that both general waste, contained in black, and garden waste, contained in blue bags, will be collected according to the usual schedule including the upcoming public holidays.
Orange recycling bag disruptions
However, it is important to note that the collection of orange recycling bags will not take place on the following public holidays.
- Good Friday (April 3)
- Easter Monday (April 6)
- Freedom Day (April 27)
- Worker’s Day (May 1)
This temporary adjustment aims to streamline service delivery while accommodating holiday staffing and operational considerations.
A litter-free Easter
Beyond the logistics of waste collection, the City has called on its communities to actively contribute to keeping neighbourhoods clean through responsible waste disposal, especially during the Easter period.
The municipality emphasised that preventing illegal dumping is a task that requires the co-operation of every resident.
These efforts align with the broader #MyCityMyResponsibility campaign, which encourages every individual to recognise how small, everyday actions, such as disposing of waste properly, can collectively have a significant impact on preserving the environment and improving the quality of life within the city.
