The eThekwini Municipality’s Electricity and Energy Directorate confirmed they are dealing with many faults and have brought in extra technical teams to speed things up.
The municipality said they are doing everything they can to restore power safely and quickly. However, they warned that it might take longer than usual because there are many outages.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams continue working tirelessly to return supply to every community,” read a statement from the municipality.
Check before logging
The municipality is urging residents to first check if their outage has already been reported before logging a new fault. Reporting the same fault multiple times puts extra strain on the control room staff without making the repairs happen any faster.
They can use the municipality’s online electricity faults portal for the most up-to-date information on outages and when power is expected to be restored. Check existing faults at https://webfaults.durban.gov.za/WebsiteFaultsEllipseProd/Outage/Index.
