Help spread hope one jar at a time
The school has collected the bottles and appealed to parents to donate the ingredients.
THE Bluff Christian Academy’s Jar of Hope project has been growing in leaps and bounds and learners are continuing their community involvement initiative by giving back to those who are less fortunate.
Roping in the community of The Bluff and surrounding areas to help fill glass jars with dry ingredients which can make a meal, learners and staff were proud to have been able to assist underprivileged people.
The school’s latest donation of 83 jars of hope was handed to those living in Tent City, a non-profit organisation which provides shelter for homeless people.

Principal of Bluff Christian Academy, Benjamin Mpangase, handed over to the jars of hope to Tent City founder, Arno Coetzee.
Explaining more about the initiative, Mpangase said, “We are proud of this initiative, which gives learners and the community an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.
“The school has collected the bottles and appealed to parents to donate the ingredients. Together, parents and learners have filled many of the jars, which have instructions on the bottles as to how the meal can be prepared.

“Some of the ingredients which can be donated include pasta, rice, soup mix, lentils, stock powder and soup. We are hoping that the initiative grows and we are able to continue to provide warm meals to deserving residents who cannot afford it.”
