eThekwini responds to power outages following heavy rains
Teams have been mobilised and dispatched to assess and address the outages in the south of Durban following the heavy rains.
THE eThekwini Municipality’s electricity unit requested the public to be patient as they work to restore power supply across several areas of Durban following last night’s heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding.

The adverse weather conditions have resulted in a large number of outages, particularly affecting regions in the southern and northern parts of Durban.
“However, the flooding aftermath and its impact on infrastructure will see restoration efforts taking longer than usual. We kindly request patience from residents as our teams work diligently to repair the damage,” said eThekwini in a media statement.
The municipality reminded residents about electricity fault reporting platforms which can be used to report power outages.

“New faults may also be logged via the City’s Mobile App. These user-friendly platforms provide an instant fault reference number upon submission of all required information,” the statement read.
Residents can also utilise the link above to track progress on their reported power outages until power is fully restored.
