Sanitary pad drive and girl talk helps girls in Merebank

Save The Dignity of Our Girls in School along with Mediskills Healthcare Academy held a girls talk and sanitary pad distribution at Alipore Road Primary School.

SAVE the Dignity of Our Girls in School, a non-profit organisation founded by Roshni Naicker, distributed sanitary pads to girl learners at Alipore Road Primary School on February 25. The organisation donated sanitary pads to Grade Six and Seven girls so that no young girl would miss school due to the lack of menstrual hygiene products.

Part of the programme involved a health talk by Mediskills Healthcare Academy founder Allison Andrews. Andrews educated the learners on the importance of good menstrual hygiene and overall feminine health. She highlighted the importance of good menstrual health in contributing significantly to the well-being of adolescent girls.

“Breaking the social stigma around menstruation is important. Open discussions create healthier conditions for women and girls,” she said.

Naicker expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors, emphasising that every contribution, big or small, is what enables girls to stay in school. She encouraged the public to keep supporting the campaign.

Any person who wishes to make a donation to Save the Dignity of Our Girls in School may get in touch with Roshni Naicker on 079 565 1567. People can also drop off sanitary pad donations into a donation box at Dr. Radhambal Kandasamy’s practice at 104 Tomango Road, Merebank.
