Shipping container falls off moving truck on M7 near The Bluff [Video]

The truck was travelling on the M7 when a shipping container fell off, causing traffic congestion on Solomon Mahlangu Drive.

A VIDEO circulating on social media platforms showing a truck losing control and overturning on Solomon Mahlangu Drive (Edwin Swales Drive) near The Bluff today has left many people shocked and calling for stricter laws to be implemented against trucks carrying heavy loads.

Based on a short video clip, the truck was travelling towards the M7, just before Recreation Road, when the shipping container it was carrying flipped over and fell onto the road.

Shaun Venter for Bluff RTL8 group, said emergency services are busy at the scene and the road is expected to be clear shortly. He said the truck driver was injured, however he remains in a stable condition. He was transported to hospital by ambulance. Venter said Bluff RTL8 has been providing residents with updates as traffic was at a standstill.
