Bargain fete raises much needed funds for Arcadia home

The residents and community enjoyed some of the deals at the Arcadia Retirement Village’s popular mini fete.

THE Arcadia Retirement Village hosted around 100 visitors who enjoyed browsing through bargains and supporting a good cause at the village’s popular mini fete on November 15. While the wet weather eventually brought the event to an early close, it did little to dampen the cheerful spirit of the day.

Mary Tholet, who runs the fete hut, said she was thrilled with the turnout for the fete’s hut despite the rain.

“We are still very happy. Even with the rain we managed to raise over R3 000, which will go straight towards our seniors’ Christmas lunch,” she said.

Adding to the regular fete fun, Neethi Chetty and her team served up delicious food, sold spices and entertained the residents and community members with fun raffles.

Tholet also extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the event.

“As always, a big thank you to the community and our team for another successful fete. Your support means the world to us as seniors,” she said.
