Mandy Edwards, the chairperson for the association, said that the popular event provides children from the community with an environment where they feel safe and have fun celebrating the festive occasion together. This year’s occasion attracted close to 100 children.
“For the children, it is all about the magic of Christmas. They got to meet Santa, sit in his sleigh, take photographs and receive party packs and juice. They also got to play in a jumping castle, with toys distributed, while parents got to unwind, sit back and network among themselves,” said Edwards.
The families also enjoyed some of the fun mystery games as well as delectable food being sold. According to Edwards, the success of the event was a sign that the community is united.
She extended her gratitude to all the sponsors and people who made this day a success, including Community Helping Community (CHC), Durban South Security, Pick ‘n Pay who contributed 200 bottles of cooldrinks, D’s Bouncy Castles and The Seniors Club.
Edwards also thanked the community for their support as well as Father Christmas of course.
MRA said they look forward to carrying this tradition forward.
