The event, done as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation of the seniors, was represented by 60 women.

Heidi Geyser, the vice chairperson of the Montwood Ratepayers Association, described the event as a “warm and loving welcoming to the new start of 2025”. She emphasised the importance of celebrating seniors within the community.

“The beauty of caring for our beloved seniors is realising they are the heroes in their own right. Sharing our love, patience and respect with them honours the dignity they have earned through their lifetimes,” said Geyser.

She said that they had seven big boxes of clothes that were donated and distributed. “Each senior received three outfits, which was so thoughtful and practical. It brought lots of joy and gratitude to the recipients,” said Geyser. The seniors were additionally treated to delicious sandwiches, cheese platters, tea and coffee.

The collaboration between the Montwood Ratepayers Association and Musallah E Dawood Uplift is an example of when people come together for the betterment of the community.
