Give life to someone in need by donating blood this festive season

Although most people consider this time of the year to be when they vacation or spend time with loved ones, the need for blood never diminishes, especially due to emergencies, surgeries and accidents that most of the time surge during this festive season,
Sister Annalyn Daniels, the branch manager of the Bluff Towers SANBS Centre, explained the challenges of reaching their daily targets.
“We have to collect 13 units of whole blood and four units of plasma per day. Weekdays are the most challenging days because there are not that many people inside the mall, making it hard for us even with our regular donors,” explained Sister Daniels.
She added with the increased foot traffic in the malls, she hopes they will be able to replicate the numbers at their centre in Bluff Towers.

The SANBS nevertheless shared a message of thanksgiving to all blood donors, partners and supporters who have contributed to making 2025 the year it was.
“As we head into the festive season, which is a time of joy, connection, and gratitude, SANBS would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to all blood donors who have contributed to saving lives throughout the year. The gift of blood keeps on giving indeed,” read the statement.
The SANBS is encouraging residents living in the Durban South to make use of the Bluff Towers SANBS Branch and continue to spread the gift of life this holiday.
Trading hours:
- Monday to Friday – 08:00 and 17:00
