Charity of choice

Sutton will be swimming to support Singakwenza, a KwaZulu-Natal organisation that focuses on early childhood learning in rural areas.

“Singakwenza trains practitioners, parents and caregivers at a grassroots level to provide fun, educational activities that enable young children to develop, through play and the foundational skills for learning, supported by resources made solely from recycling. I chose this wonderful charity as early childhood education and recycling are both close to my heart,” said Sutton.

The Oceans 8 Charity Swim

The Oceans 8 Charity Swim has become one of Durban’s most inspiring open water events. It allows swimmers to choose from a 1-mile, 4-mile, 8-mile and 16-mile events while raising funds for various charities.

Sutton has been swimming since she was a child and transitioned into open water swimming five years ago. She regularly trains with a group at the Durban Undersea Club, swimming three to four times a week.

Last year, the event raised over R1m for the charities involved.
