Merebank seniors share hugs, smiles and good times

Community members of all ages attended the event which also included entertainment and educational activities.

THE Merebank Community Centre was filled with excitement and laughter on June 19 as senior citizens celebrated mothers’ and fathers’ day to honour them and promote community unity.

Although Fathers’ Day falls on Sunday, June 21, the senior citizens from the Durban South Service Centre combined Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day to create one inclusive event.

The event featured a series of activities, dance groups and contests designed to celebrate the role mothers and fathers within the community.

Ward committee member for safety, health and security, Sharin Rajman said the competition was aimed at strengthening family bonds and creating opportunities for residents to interact in a positive and supportive environment.

Community members of all ages attended the event which also included entertainment and educational activities.

“The celebration formed part of ongoing efforts to encourage community participation and acknowledge the contributions parents make to their families and society. Senior citizens from the Durban South Service Centre attended and took part in various activities for the day,” said Rajman.

Throughout the day, attendees took part in a range of interactive challenges that encouraged family involvement.

Desi Productions delivered one of the event’s highlights, captivating the audience with series of energetic and colourful dance routines.

The dancers showcased their talent through well-choreographed acts that earned enthusiastic applause from the audience.
