Manhunt underway after Merebank robbery

The two armed suspects held the victim at gunpoint and demanded cash. The incident happened on South Coast Road.

MONTCLAIR police have launched a manhunt of two armed suspects who robbed a business on South Coast Road in Merebank Station yesterday afternoon (February 11).

According to Constable Norah Ndlovu of Montclair police station, the suspects walked into the kiosk and held the owner at gunpoint, demanding cash.

“The victim then told the first suspect that her cellphone was in the car outside. The second suspect, who was outside the kiosk, went to fetch the victim’s cellphone from the car. The suspects then took her purse, speedpoint machine, a flash machine and cigarettes before fleeing. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at R7000,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu added that the police are committed to reducing crime in the area and ensuring the safety of both business owners and residents.

“Armed robberies are taken very seriously, and we are doing everything possible to track down the suspects,” said Ndlovu.

Montclair police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the suspects’ whereabouts to contact the station immediately.

Residents are also advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.
