Bluff Christian Academy learners ditched their uniforms to help bring their favourite fictional characters to life.

BLUFF Christian Academy came alive with storybook fantasies as learners and staff, each in their finest outfits, celebrated dress up as a book character day recently. The whimsical day raised money for the school’s 25th birthday celebration.

Learners arrived dressed as their beloved book characters including fairy-tale princesses, storybook characters and modern novel heroes.

Misheal Somai and Seth Moodley dressed as Dr Seuss’s Thing One and Thing Two.

Teachers were impressed by the amount of creativity and passion shown by the students. Ntozinhle Nkomo, marketing and events coordinator, said they noted that the programme not only developed a higher interest in reading but also encouraged self-expression and confidence.

Jia Joubert impersonates Wednesday Addams.

“We would like to thank parents and learners for their cooperation. Book character day was an excellent reminder of the joy of books,” said Nkomo.

De’jean Manuel and Liyah Gobey came straight from the wizarding world.

The day helped pique an interest in reading for many learners.
