In terms of Sub-regulation (4) of the revised Major Hazard Installation Regulations of 2022 (GNR. 2989 of 31 January 2023) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993 as amended), NCP Chlorchem (Pty) Ltd., Chloorkop notifies the public that it has completed an update of the risk assessment as conducted by an approved AIA. To improve the inspection and maintenance regime, NCP intends to install an additional Chlorine receiver. The facility remains a High Hazard, Major Hazard Installation due to the toxic nature of Chlorine that it stores on site. In the unlikely event of a large accidental release of Chorine, the gas may be harmful to the health of persons in the vicinity. In terms of Sub- regulation 4(5) any interested and affected party may, within 60 days of the publication of this advertisement, make written submissions concerning the proposed installation to Ekurhuleni Fire & Emergency Services and/or the Chief Inspector. In terms of Sub-regulation 4(4)(b)(iv) the above risk assessment report can be viewed and will be presented to all interested and affected parties at a meeting on the 6 May 2026 at 10:00am-12:00pm at NCP Chlorchem, Cnr Ossewa & Norwalk Street, Chloorkop, Kempton Park, 1620.
