NOTICE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION APPLICATION FOR THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF THE GINGINDLOVU SPORTS FIELD Notice is hereby given in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (107: 1998) and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (as amended), of an application for Environmental Authorisation. PROJECT DETAILS: The uMlalazi Local Municipality proposes to construct a formal sports facility located within Eshowe Park, corner Eshowe Street and McCullum Street, Gingindlovu, under the jurisdiction of uMlalazi Local Municipality, King Cetshwayo District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal Province. The site is an existing municipal open space situated adjacent to residential areas and approximately 29 m west of an unnamed seasonal drainage line. The project will include grassed soccer field, multipurpose sports court, ablution facilities, parking area, perimeter clear-view fencing, stormwater drainage infrastructure, sewer connection and associated services. THE EIA PROCESS: The above project triggers listed activities in Listing Notice 1 (GNR 327) and Notice 3 (GNR 324) and therefore a Basic Assessment Process is being undertaken. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION & REGISTRATION OF I&APs: Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) are invited to register and participate in the process. Copies of the BAR and EMPr will be available at the Gingindlovu Library for public review. Electronic copies will be made available upon request and distributed to all registered I&APs. The public review and commenting period will run from 24 April 2026 to 26 May 2026.
