NOTICE OF BASIC ASSESSMENT PROCESS (BA)
FOR THE
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF A TRUCK DEPO AND FUEL STORAGE FACITLIY ON ERF 1869, ALTON, UMHLATHUZE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY Ni-Da Group, the Applicant, is proposing to develop a truck depot and a fuel storage facility on Erf 1869, Alton, Richards Bay. The proposed fuel storage facility will consist of three (3) above-ground tanks with a combined capacity of 299m3. The development footprint is approximately 2.8 hectares. The proposed activities will also include the due diligence and decommissioning of an existing 14m3 diesel fuel tank on the site.

Environmental Authorisation Process
Exigent Engineering Consultants cc has been appointed by the Applicant as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner to undertake the Basic Assessment process, including the Public Participation Process. Notice is given for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) application to be submitted to KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DEDTEA) in terms of the EIA Regulations, as amended, published in Government Notice No. R982 of 4 December 2014, as amended, under section 24(5) and 44 of the National Environmental Management Act, (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended, (GNR326, 2017), of the intent to carry out the Basic Assessment Process (in terms of listed activity 14 of Listing Notice 1 – GN R327). In addition, notice is also given in terms of National Heritage Resources Act (NHRA), Act No. 25 of 1999
