NOTICE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA)
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS
PROPOSED UPGRADING OF A 4KM GRAVEL ROAD AT THE ENTRANCE OF CONSORT MINE IN BARBERTON TOWARDS THE LOW-LEVEL BRIDGE IN MLAMBONGWANE SETTLEMENT UNDER THE CITY OF MBOMBELA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, EHLANZENI REGION OF MPUMALANGA PROVINCE.
Notice of a Public Participation Process is hereby given in terms of Chapter 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations published in Government Notice No. R.326 of April 2017, regarding the following Activity:
Proposed Activity: Proposed Project Scope will entail some of the following:
•The Upgrading and Surfacing of the Existing Gravel Road;
•Rehabilitation of Existing or New Borrow Pits will be Investigated for Material Sources for the Project;
•Construction of the Layer Works and Traffic Accommodation during Construction Phase;
•Maintenance of the Existing Stormwater Infrastructure and Construction of New Drainage or Storm-water Structures where required;
•The Improvement, Repair or Replacement of Road Furniture such as Guardrails, Road Marking and Road Signs;
•The Relocation of Power (Electricity) and Water Services.
Project Location: The project is located in Barberton and starts at entrance of Consort Mine on GPS Co-ordinates 2539`03.8″S, 3104`34.3″E and terminates at the Low Level Bridge GPS Co- ordinates 2538`46.0″S, 3102`35.5″E in Mlambongwane settlement under the City of Mbombela Local Municipality, Ehlanzeni Region of Mpumalanga Province. The gravel (4km) route road will be upgraded (paved) is a single carriageway (one lane each direction), within a road reserve of approximately 14m in width.
