EDITOR – My name is Melanie Duval and I work for Pick n Pay on the Bluff and live in the Austerville area.
I have walked to and from work almost everyday for 18 years without incident. Well, on my way home on Monday, 8 September I was accosted by two men who held me at knifepoint for my handbag and cellphone. A gentleman stopped to assist me and telephoned the police. The police from Brighton Beach were there within five minutes with a dog unit. There were more than 10 policemen to assist me. I am totally in awe of the rapid response and help that I received from our police department. They should be commended on a job well done as all my property was recovered and aside from the shock, I am in excellent condition.
