Spider, Mouse climb on Bluff BC perch

On the health front the clubs asks the members to keep Shirley Bisset in their prayers as she undergoes an operation this week.

NO, it’s not Jungle Book – it was the Bell any pairs competition played this past Sunday, where Spider Williams and Mouse Ratcliffe were the overall winners on a 4+17 to topple John Somerville and Val Herbert off the perch and put themselves in line for the jackpot prize of R1,900 next month.

The first session was won by Brian and Paula Osman on a 2+17 while the second session was captured by Daphne Reinhardt and Jay Retief on a 2+8.

The 50/50 board was won by Kurt Spack and the meat prize was taken home by Gary Moffat.

On Saturday in the men’s inter-club league, both the A and B sides lost 6-1 and 3-2 respectively.

There were two women’s nominated pairs matches played on Saturday afternoon, in which Janice Rodgers and June Foster beat Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel and in the other game Bridget White and Chrissie Smith defeated Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset.

The club had three teams left in the PNB mixed pairs competition which continued on Sunday. Clinton and Sarie Bisset as well as Dave Le Roux and Bridget White won both their matches and are through to the next round.

Unfortunately Robert Mhlongo and Glynis Macrory were knocked out. Well done to all and good luck to those in the next round.

A reminder to all members that the Brian Osman pairs will be held this Thursday morning, 17 April and the Lilah Nel pairs will be on Sunday, 20 April.

To all men bowlers, check the board as the first round of the men’s drawn pairs has been posted for Saturday, 19 April starting at 1.30pm with a bring and braai following the matches.

Last but not least both of the mens mid week league teams have made it through the qualifying stages. Good luck to them in the knockout stages.
