Bluff athletes all set for Comrades

45 runners from the Bluff Athletic Club will take on the Comrades Marathon.

GEARED up for one of the world’s oldest ultra marathons, members of the Bluff Athletic Club, Basil Kok, Bruce Deeley-Smith and Dennis Houston-McMillan, are thrilled to be able to take on the ultimate human race on August 28.

Anticipating the camaraderie of the 95th Comrades Marathon, Basil, who will take on his 34th consecutive run, says the he was proud that he is able to participate in the special down run under this years campaign, The Return – Sishay Ibuya.

The campaign signals the long-awaited return to road-running and a celebration of the comeback of marathon.

This years run will be a milestone for Bruce, who will run his 30th race this year. Dennis proudly follows the pioneer athletes and is excited to tackle his 18th Comrades.

Freek Potgieter, Donovan Lelong and Anthony West will each run their 10th Comrades.

Of the 45 runners from the club who will race to the finish line at this years down run, Freek Potgieter, Donovan Lelong and Anthony West, will also commemorate a milestone run as they run their 10th Comrades.

Athletes from the Bluff Athletic Club are geared up to take on the ultimate human race.

The clubs Lindsay Kapp said, “This will see them enter the prestigious group called the Green Number Club. We wish all our runners the best.”
