
THURSDAY, 8 JUNE: The South African Military History Society’s monthly meeting takes place at the Murray Theatre, first floor Civil Engineering Building, UKZN Howard College campus at 7pm for 7.30pm. Speakers will be Major Mark Levin, who will share about ‘Reg Walker: Durban’s own Olympic hero and World War I veteran’ and the second talk will be given by well known historian, Professor Donal McCracken who will speak on the Anglo Boer War, ‘Ireland remembers and disremembers the Anglo Boer War’. THURSDAY, 8 JUNE: Montclair Senior Citizens Club meets in the Montclair Methodist Church hall at 9.30am where the Stainbank WI choir will entertain.
SATURDAY, 10 JUNE: Durban and Coastal Branch of the Genealogical Society of South Africa meets at 2pm at the Family History Centre, Montgomery Lane (on Church of the Latter Day Saints premises), off Silverton Road in Musgrave. The topic is ‘The good old days of Durban trams and trolley busses, and Springbok and LM Radio’ with speaker Kevan Marden. Call Gail on 082-670-1842.
TUESDAY, 13 JUNE: Birdlife Port Natal meets at Krantzkloof Interpretive Centre at 9.30am for 10am. Speaker will be Tammy Caine from the KZN Raptor Rescue Centre. There is an entrance fee, and tea and coffee will be provided. Call Tessa White on 083-540-4120 or email tessadavid@telkomsa.net
WEDNESDAY, 14 JUNE: Birdlife Port Natal visits Pigeon Valley from 7.30am. Call Sandi du Preez on 031-701-4839 or on 073-332-4431. Meet at the entrance. Entry is free but a donation towards the Friends of Pigeon Valley would be appreciated. Take along your own chair, coffee, tea and snacks for a picnic afterwards.
WEDNESDAY, 14 JUNE: Birdlife Port Natal indoor meeting at Westville Methodist Church from 7pm, Jan Hofmeyr Road, Westville.
