WEDNESDAY, 9 AUGUST: Birdlife Port Natal’s indoor meeting on Women’s Day takes place at Westville Methodist Church, Jan Hofmeyr Road at 7pm. The club will get together to thank all the women members for the massive contribution they make for the bird club and conservation in general. Jean Senogles is guest speaker on monkeys and their interaction with birds.
THURSDAY, 10 AUGUST: Montclair Senior Citizens Club meets in Montclair Methodist Church hall from 9.30am. Bessie Williams Choir will entertain. All seniors in the area are welcome, go along and have an enjoyable social morning. R5 for tea and raffles available at R1 per ticket.
THURSDAY, 10 AUGUST: The South African Military History Society’s monthly meeting at the Murray Theatre, 1st floor Civil Engineering Building, UKZN Howard College campus, 7pm for 7.30pm. The speakers will be Prof Philip Everitt who will speak about ‘Experiences in the Frontier War, 1877/1878’ and the second talk will be given by Charles Whiteing who will present on ‘The Rescue of Mussolini’. SATURDAY, 19 AUGUST: Mountain Backpackers Club visits the Kloof Gorge where sights of waterfalls, Mpiti and porcupine await. Meet at the Ezemvelo car park in Kloof Falls Road at 8am. Look out for the MBC banner. This 9km hike takes place between 8am and 1pm. Call John McGovern on 082-659-5111.
SUNDAY, 20 AUGUST: Mountain Backpackers Club hosts a hike to the Lower Injisuthi cave. Hikers should meet at the Injisuthi Wildlife office at 9am. FRIDAY, 25 AUGUST: Bazaar/fete at the Dutch Reformed Church Montclair hall at 42 Montclair Road. The fete starts at 4pm until 7pm. There will be lots to eat so give yourself some time off in the kitchen and join them for supper. For more information, contact the church office on 031-467-2392.
