The family of three-year-old Luke Tibbetts, who died after being shot while sitting on his mother’s lap in a car in Westbury, say they have lost faith in the justice system.
Sophiatown Police have confirmed that the suspect, who admitted to pointing a firearm during the shooting in August, has been released after paying a R3,000 bail money.
The accused, who has been charged with murder, is expected to go on trial in the High Court next year.
Tibbetts’ uncle Llewellyn Valentine said: “I was told by a friend that the man involved in Lukes’ death is a free man and won’t face further charges.
“As a family, we are really disturbed about what has happened because police said this guy will be dealt with and they will face the full might of the law.”
