Bus strike over but NUMSA not happy
All back to normal after bus strike left many struggling with transport

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa is not at all happy with the wage increase of 9% tabled by transport bodies.
According to a piece published by iol, “Metalworkers union Numsa has blamed the SA Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu), Transport & Omnibus Workers Union (Towu) and Transport and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Tawusa) for signing the nine percent wage deal without ensuring that working conditions were improved.”
A report from HeraldLive states that Numsa, as quoted, “had to accept this sell-out deal for the sake of industrial peace and stability in the sector”.
Rea Vaya has, on their website, published an article indicating that the bus services would resume as normal from April 15.
“The national bus strike is over. The service will operate according to normal bus schedules. The City apologizes to passengers for lack of service during the strike.” as quoted from the article.
Workers from Gautrain and MyCiti Bus and Rea Vaya were reported to have commenced with work from April 15 and Putco the day before.
