As the Festive Season approaches, the Eldorado Park SAPS pleads with residents to be vigilant and take preventative measures to ensure their safety. Shocking October crime statistics for Eldorado Park proves that the December period will be a difficult one. Communications officer, Constable Roxanne Gibb confirms that October saw an increase in murder, common assault, and drug-related crimes.
“During October 2019 we have experienced an increase in murder. There has been a slight increase to attempted murder cases reported as well, whereas our assault with the internet to cause grievous bodily harm has not seen an increase, however, the majority of the assault GBH suspects have been arrested,” said Gibb.
“Common assault has also increased during this month and most of these are domestic violence-related. We urge residents not to take the law into their own hands and to seek lawful and legal assistance in these misunderstandings.

“There are numerous means to deal with domestic-related issues such as the Family court, Kliptown Room 6, Women Against Women Abuse(Wawa) and the Eldorado Park SAPS. We have our Victim Empowerment Centre to assist those who have been violated. All these have been made available for the residents for them to make use of,” she added.
Gibb also confirmed that attempted robberies and robberies aggravating have seen a significant decrease in October. “We would like to applaud residents, this could only mean that they are on the lookout for one another and are reporting suspicious activities,” said Gibb.
“Our sexual offences also has a significantly high decrease and for that, we thank the men out in the community who were brave enough to take the stand against women abuse and gender-based violence. We have once again proven that we are capable of combating crime if we put our minds to it, all we need is unity,” she added.
Other crimes have seen a gradual decrease and arrests on outstanding and wanted suspects have all increased.
“Once again a big thank you goes out to the community for all their assistance as it won’t be possible without them. We appreciate all effort put into assisting the SAPS to bring these perpetrators to justice,” said Gibb. The communications officer confirmed that drug-related crimes have increased as is still a matter of concern for the community.
