Police search for Quantum robbers targeting businesses

After they gained access to the shop, several shots were fired by the intruders and one person was shot in the right thigh.

Police in Meadowlands are investigating a case of attempted murder and business robbery that resulted in one person being hospitalised in Orlando West.

The witness, a 46-year-old woman alleges that while she was asleep, she was woken up by a knock on the door and thereafter heard a voice of a man who instructed her to open the door.

According to reports, she instead blew the whistle to alert the community however it was at that moment when the suspects broke the door and entered the room.

Six males entered her room, one of whom carried an unknown sharp object.

The suspect used it to break the board dividing the shop and the witness’s room.

After they gained access to the shop, several shots were fired by the intruders and one person was shot in the right thigh.

Police said the suspects demanded money and searched the shop and found an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects also made away with boxes of cigarettes from the witness room and also from the shop.

It is believed that the suspects fled the scene using a Toyota quantum.

Nine cartridges were found at the scene, while the injured victim was taken to the Helen Joseph hospital for medical attention.
