23-year-old man arrested after grandmother stabbed in Dube

A quiet Dube street was rocked by violence after a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his grandmother, prompting swift action from community patrollers and emergency services.

A normally quiet section of Sandile Street in Dube was disrupted by violence after a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his grandmother.

Community patrollers responded swiftly after receiving a distress call from the area. On arrival, they found the elderly woman in a critical condition and immediately alerted emergency medical services and the police.

Steven Tshabala, one of the patrollers who attended the scene, said paramedics acted without delay.

“EMS rushed her to Mofolo Clinic, and the police were called. The suspect was taken into custody,” Tshabala said.

Details surrounding the incident remain limited, but the grandmother was receiving medical treatment at the clinic at the time of reporting.

The police have since taken over the investigation and confirmed that a case has been opened. The motive behind the alleged attack has not yet been established.
