Local foundation provides food relief to vulnerable Dube families
The Tshepo Makole Youth Empowerment Foundation has donated food parcels to indigent community members and vulnerable families in Dube who struggle to access basic food supplies.
The Tshepo Makole Youth Empowerment Foundation (TMYEF) eased holiday food shortages for Dube families.
The TMYEF donated food parcels on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day to help indigent community members and vulnerable families who often struggle to access food.
Foundation project manager Tshepo Makole said they were motivated to start the food provision programme by the reality that not everyone can afford food during the festive period.

He stated that while some families are employed and can support one another by sharing food, many are not.
“It is important to be realistic. Today’s economic conditions are different from those of the past. Generations face different challenges, and we have seen some of our friends and beneficiaries forced to seek food from other households.
“This is something we could not allow to continue. While such situations have occurred before, the support of generous individuals like Mr Dawood made it possible for us to provide meaningful assistance,” said Makole.
Makole explained that most of the initiative’s beneficiaries are community members struggling to access the R350 social relief grant and those depending on handouts for survival.
He said the TMYEF identified beneficiaries through internal assessments, which verified their employment status, ability to afford food and family circumstances.

“We plan to continue implementing this initiative and pray that God will touch the hearts of kind individuals, such as Mr Dawood, and others to support us.
“We also hope to encourage more people, including the private sector and government, to join and assist in the future, contributing according to their means, whether through resources or any form of support offered in good faith,” he said.
