E-hailing drivers warned as hijackings increase in Slovoville

E-hailing cab drivers are urged to remain vigilant when operating in Slovoville following a recent hijacking and reports of a renewed increase in vehicle hijackings in the area.

E-hailing drivers are being urged to remain on high alert following a recent increase in hijacking incidents in Slovoville.

The warning comes after an e-hailing driver was allegedly hijacked by unknown suspects, who stole his white Hyundai while he was operating in the area.

Slovoville Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Patrick Thinane said hijackings, which had declined for a period, were increasing again.

“Hijacking incidents had decreased, but they are starting again,” said Thinane.

He expressed concern about the safety of e-hailing drivers operating in Slovoville and urged them to exercise caution when accepting trips to the area.

The neighbourhood watch advised drivers to remain vigilant, stay alert at all times and, where possible, avoid isolated or poorly lit areas.
