Locals speak on their goals aimed for 2025
Community members look back at the goals they had set for themselves and their New Year’s resolutions.
With the new year underway, community members reflect on their 2024 achievements and set their sights on goals for the year ahead.
Despite the challenges, many made significant progress in their personal and professional lives, from strengthening relationships to career milestones. The community is now eager to embrace 2025 with renewed determination and new resolutions.

Karabo Mokgatle, a Meadowlands Zone 3 resident, told the Urban News that although she did not achieve all of her goals in 2024, she is glad she achieved 80% of them.

“I’d say I achieved 80% of what I set for myself. My biggest was to build my relationship with God, and I achieved that, getting a permanent job close to family and church, getting a cottage and fully furnishing it, and I became one of the top employees in my department,’’ said Mokgatle.
2024 matriculant Lethabo Mosiapoa said he’d dedicated his year to ensuring he did well at school and passed with good marks to make it to university.
Mosiapoa said, “Besides school, I have always had a passion for fashion and thought, ‘Why not start my own brand and start making transition fashion videos for TikTok and Instagram?’
My new year’s resolution is to continue with the content. It is doing well because I have gained a lot of followers and recognition.”

Kgothatso Mohlophegi said, “I did not completely achieve the goal I had set for myself. I finished and passed my honours degree but did not get into masters with the results.

My new year’s resolution is to enrol in another honours programme, pass it and qualify for masters. I want to nurture my friendships more and be open to meeting new people with the prospect of friendship.
“I want to spend less time on social media and pour that time into a new hobby or skill. Most importantly, I want to work on my relationship with God and the church.’’
Community members look forward to 2025 and what they aim to achieve.
