EFF donates 46 laptops to Ekuthuleni Primary School

The next phase of the programme includes donating school shoes and calculators to another Ward 26 school.

Members of the EFF in Ward 26 recently donated paint and 46 laptops to Ekuthuleni Primary School as part of their Umtwana Eskolweni programme that launched early this year.

The programme focuses on bridging a gap in local schools, providing resources and creating a conducive teaching and learning environment in their ward.

The chairperson of the EFF in Ward 26, Thabo Radebe, said that they donated laptops to the school because most of their members previously attended it, including MPL Vuyani Pampo, who was part of the programme and helped with funds for the donations.

“With the leadership of Pampo, we aim to give the learners a productive environment and access to resources we have never had when attending the school.

“Since the world is now going digital, our learners deserve to know how to use laptops from as early as primary because most do not get access to such at home.

“We believe this donation will go a long way in building their confidence and equipping them with the necessary information and foundation they need for their secondary level of learning.

“The next phase of the programme includes donating school shoes and calculators to another school in Ward 26, so we plead with local business owners and residents with the capacity and resources to assist us to come on board and help bring our vision into reality.

“We want to stop the culture of locals taking their children to suburban schools because of a lack of resources in our schools.

“We hope that by working together, our learners will have access to a learning environment similar to those in advanced schools.”

Radebe said they believe one of their duties as the EFF is to look after their local schools, rebuild their dignity and turn them into proper learning environments through their programme.

“With the crime that usually takes place in the area, we have EFF members and school governing body members from Ekuthuleni Primary School volunteering to guard the school and ensure the laptops are safe, and the donation was not in vain but will positively assist the learners.”
