Their campaign will focus on teachers, health care workers, religious organisations and other civil society organisations with an effort to educate them about child abuse and measures they can take to prevent it in their communities.
The public relations practitioner for the centre, Sibusiso Ndaba, said the protection of children is safeguarding them from abuse, violence, exploitation, abandonment and neglect by identifying the signs that may pose potential harm to children.
“It is the responsibility of every member of society to ensure the well-being and safety of children are protected by reporting child abuse.
Our Child Protection Week campaign is led by the Department of Social Development in partnership with other government departments and civil society organisations rendering child protection services.
“We heeded a call by the government to all South Africans to support Child Protection Week by making sure that children in the community do not become victims of child abuse.
“It is in our hands to stop the cycle of abuse that our children endure. As a local organisation, we are here to protect the rights of our children and ensure that they live the best life possible. These are our future leaders.”
