Fire breaks out at South African Breweries depot in Diepkloof
A fire ignited by nearby grass spread to the SAB depot's crate yard in Diepkloof, prompting a swift response from Joburg EMS. The fire was contained with no damage to the main structure.
The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) responded to a fire at the South African Breweries (SAB) Bara depot in Diepkloof on June 26.
According to an official EMS statement, the fire broke out in the outdoor crate storage area of the SAB prSoweto Urban emises and was successfully contained.

“Firefighting crews were on the scene, conducting salvage and damping down operations to ensure there are no flare-ups and that the area is fully secured.

“Fortunately, the main structure within the premises was not affected and remains unscathed,” said Joburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo.
Khumalo added that the blaze reportedly started in nearby grass, which spread and ignited storage crates within the facility.
“At this stage, no injuries have been reported, and the main building and its contents have not been affected,” Khumalo said.
