Soweto hairstylists uplifted at ORS masterclass

The brand trained Soweto hair professionals on business and haircare techniques, while launching its ongoing R30 000 salon upgrade competition.

ORS hosted an exclusive masterclass in Klipriviersoog, Soweto, on December 3.

The session served as a way of giving back to the community by bringing together established hair professionals and those entering the hair industry.

The event also celebrated the brand’s rich heritage and long-standing commitment to empowering consumers with trusted, high-performance haircare solutions.

Founded in 1977, ORS has grown into a leading haircare brand catering for a wide variety of hair types.

Brand Manager Zama Cele said, “We are in Soweto for a masterclass. As a brand, we wanted to find a way to give back to a local township, and we chose Soweto to empower local hairstylists and professionals with information and knowledge on how to grow their brands, as well as learn more about ORS.”

She added that she hopes the initiative will empower attendees to sustain themselves while helping to grow the hair industry within local communities.

The masterclass focused on educating participants about proper haircare techniques, showcasing the versatility of the ORS range, and creating an interactive platform where professionals could experience the brand first-hand

The masterclass brought together professionals to showcase their skills and also pass down knowledge about hair.

A key highlight was the announcement of the first winner in the ongoing ORS competition, who received R30 000 for a full salon makeover. The campaign is part of ORS’s commitment to giving back to its loyal community through exciting rewards.

Professional hairstylist and event facilitator Jerry Monamodi reflected on the challenges the industry faced, especially during COVID-19, saying he hopes the initiative will help revitalise local businesses.

“We need such brands to come into our communities so that we can give our customers the best haircare. I am a professional as well, but I believe I will still learn a lot from my colleagues, even as a facilitator,” he said.

The ORS competition runs until December 31, with two more winners still to be selected.

To enter, salon owners can purchase any ORS product, complete the entry slip, and drop the till slip into the ORS entry boxes at selected independent beauty and cosmetic stores.
