Soweto footballer Siyabonga Nyoni eyes DStv Diski Challenge breakthrough
Pimville defender Siyabonga Nyoni (20) is determined to turn his passion for football into a professional career. The former defender of the season winner is now a free agent hoping to secure a contract in the DStv Diski Challenge.
Siyabonga Nyoni (20), from Pimville, Soweto, is a young man passionate about soccer. He started playing sports at the age of 11 for fun.
Encouraged by his coaches, Nyoni started taking soccer seriously at 15, and the competitive nature of the sport sparked a passion and love for him.
Although he felt he was not as good as other players who trained professionally from a young age, Nyoni shared that through hard work and consistency, he became a pro at soccer.

Having played as a defender for Kliptown FC, Upwards FC, Junior FC, Pimville Cameroon FC, and Jomo Cosmo FC, the soccer star told Urban News that his dream is to now compete with the biggest teams; however, he would like to get signed under DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC) and continue with his career.
‘’My biggest achievement so far in my career was when I won defender of the season for a team I played for. This was a confidence booster, and this showed me that I am as good as the other players,’’ said Nyoni.
Nyoni’s love and passion for soccer make him travel from Pimville to Eldorado Park, as he shared that there is limited space and overcrowding at the sports grounds in Pimville, and he prefers training individually.

He also shared that the most challenging part of his career is the lack of opportunities to reach higher-ranked leagues or teams.
