Rhulani Mabasa Children’s Foundation launches mobile library to boost literacy
The mobile library is aimed at promoting transformation in early childhood development through reading and empowering children.
The Rhulani Mabasa Children’s Foundation (RMCF) has opened a mobile library, called Kasi to Kasi.
It aims to address the literacy challenges encountered by local communities.
“Libraries are essential for children’s growth as they offer access to books and enhance literacy. We do have existing gaps within our communities, and this is what the K2K aims to navigate,” said founder of K2K and RMCF, Rhulani Mabasa.
Mabasa shared that his team started transporting his old van into the mobile library in 2025.

“Our mission is to bring the books where the children are, because it’s very rare that we still find children who go to libraries if there are any. This will also help with the vocabulary and literacy of the children.
K2K travels on a daily basis to different communities like Dobsonville, Braamfischer and Meadowlands, among other areas, to empower the children.
Mabasa added that parents and community members play a role in shaping the children as they offer to help read with the children. They have also picked up that some parents cannot read, which needs to be addressed.
Mabasa told Urban News that the organisation needs donations in the form of books, food, money for petrol and anything that might assist in growing the organisation.
