Black Diamond Sport launches campaign to empower young female footballers

The initiative aims to get sponsors for 100 girls, providing them with the resources to thrive both on and off the field.

Black Diamond Sport has proudly launched the One Girl, One Ball & A Pair of Soccer Boots, a campaign dedicated to fostering women’s soccer development and cultivating the next generation of female leaders.

The initiative aims to get sponsors for 100 girls, providing them with the resources to thrive both on and off the field.

The club has further announced its entry into the 2026 Gauteng Women’s Development League as the first ladies’ soccer team based in Soweto and the sole representative of Mogale City.

In parallel, the club is launching a Girls Soccer Academy at Itemogelo Primary School in Protea Glen, opening its doors to boys and girls aged six and up.

Black Diamond Sport founder and chairperson, Tebogo Mahlahlane, said their mission is clear: to give every talented girl from disadvantaged communities the tools she needs, one ball, a pair of boots and unwavering support to chase her dreams on and off the pitch.

“We believe the academy will be a springboard for future professional athletes, community leaders and an inspiration to young girls who aspire to become professional athletes,” said Mahlahlane.

Through the One Girl, One Ball & A Pair of Soccer Boot campaign, Black Diamond Sport invites individuals, corporations, and organisations to adopt one or more academy players.

“By investing in a young girl today, you invest in a leader, an athlete and a role model for her entire community tomorrow,” said Mahlahlane.
