Soweto Country Club hosts launch of Golf4Change Jozi youth clinic

The programme brought together government leaders, the golfing fraternity, business partners, media, and young aspiring golfers for a day of engagement, inspiration, mentorship, and skills development.

The Office of the MMC for Community Development, Clr Thapelo Amad, launched the Golf4Change Jozi and Youth Golf Clinic on May 30 at Soweto Country Club, Pimville.

As part of Youth Month celebrations, the Golf4Change Jozi – Youth Legacy Invitational was officially launched to create opportunities for young people to access mentorship, develop leadership skills, build professional networks and explore pathways to economic participation through sport.

Held under the theme “From Protest to Progress,” the initiative forms part of the City of Johannesburg’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Soweto Uprising. It aims to celebrate the legacy of the youth of 1976 by creating opportunities that empower and inspire today’s generation to achieve their full potential.

Amad said the launch success demonstrates what can be achieved when government, business, sport, and communities work together with a shared vision of empowering young people.

“As we commemorate the legacy of the youth of 1976, our generation’s mission must be to create opportunities for the youth of today and to build a brighter future for tomorrow, today.

Golf4Change Jozi creates pathways for youth development.

“Through initiatives such as Golf4Change Jozi, we are opening doors, creating access, and connecting young people to the networks, mentorship, and opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives,” said Amad.

Amad acknowledged the sponsors and partners supporting Golf4Change Jozi, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in creating opportunities for young people and advancing youth development initiatives.
