WATCH: Are the Aussies lying over how long they’ve tampered?

By Sports Reporter

Steve Smith’s insistence that the Australians’ ball-tampering during the third Test against the Proteas was the first time it has happened under his captaincy is now in doubt.

New footage has emerged of Cameron Bancroft, the Aussie opener who was the main actor in the Newlands drama, putting sugar in his pocket during the Ashes against England earlier this year.

There’s no cricket law against putting the condiment in a trouser pocket but given the context of what has happened in Cape Town, it suddenly suggests that Smith’s words might not have been quite truthful.

The Aussie skipper is apparently already on his way back home as he’s suspended for the fourth Test starting in Johannesburg on Friday.

Cricket Australia have already commenced their investigation into the saga that has rocked world cricket.
