It pays to play Trick

By Trevor Reid

It was notable there was a lack of betting support on her debut but she really ought to have won the race. This Trippi filly proved difficult to load, was slow away and only really got into the race when the winner, Brave And Bold, had skipped the field.

Drawn in pole position tonight she should get the run of the race and prove too good for Ire De Fiesta.

The Var filly was heavily backed on debut but was reported to be coughing and raced green so improvement should be improvement forthcoming.

The Kumaran Naidoo-trained Royalsecuritybaby looks the one to be with now with the scratching of Roy’s Royalty.

This Australian-bred filly loves the Polytrack and jockey Warren Kennedy can hopefully overcome a wide draw. Throne and Sluice Gate look the most likely dangers.

Paree from the Mike de Kock yard raced green but still managed to find her best stride late to win a Maiden Plate and could follow up in Race 5, a FM 66 Handicap.

Stirling Leaves has only won once in 16 starts but could be a danger as her second place behind Trophy Wife at Turffontein last month was a good run.
