ABC side opens case against gun-toting club official

Limpopo’s ABC Motsepe League side Polokwane Academy have opened a case against a Pusela City official Tornado Mafumo.

The City senior official is alleged to have pulled out his gun and confronted a match official after his side lost 4-3 to Academy on Wednesday.

According to Limsportzone, Mafumo is a police detective in the province, however it is unclear whether that was his work or personal fire-arm which he used on the day.

Academy assistant coach Thabo Tlouane says his side opened a case against Mafumo on Wednesday evening.

“We opened a case of pointing of fire-arm by Mr Tornado Mafumo last night at the Polokwane police station. After the scuffle that everyone saw inside field, it went onto the tunnel and that guy (Tornado) took out a gun and started pointing at everyone who was there including me. But he was pointing while running away after realising that we were calling the police,” Tlouane told Limsportzone.

In a separate incident this week in the ABC Motsepe League, referee Mongezi Phungula was attacked by supporters at the Chatsworth Stadium after a match between Summerfield Dynamos and XI Experience.
