Nyandoro backs Zimbabwe to survive group of death

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Esrom Nyandoro is confident that Zimbabwe have what it take to advance to the next round in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Zimbabwe are in Group B along with Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal and played to a 2-2 draw with Algeria in their opening match of the tournament.

The Warriors Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez score the equaliser for Algeria eight minutes before the final whistle. Zimbabwe will face the only nation in the tournament to register a win in Senegal, the Lions of Taranga, will face Nyandoro’s countrymen on Thursday.

“If they can perform for a full 90 minutes the way they did in the first half against Algeria‚ they can beat Senegal‚” Nyandoro said.

‘‘The Zimbabwe in the first half and the Zimbabwe in the second half were totally different‚” Nyandoro said.

‘‘I do not know what happened in the second half. I am a little bit disappointed about the performance in the second half and I consider it as two points dropped. We could have won that game!”
