Benni: We rode our luck
"We are happy to go back to Cape Town with the three points, I won't say it was deserved but I think sometimes we ride our luck," said McCarthy.

Benni McCarthy was the first to admit that his Cape Town City outfit did not deserve all three points in their 1-0 Absa Premiership win against SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, as City won courtesy of a Gift Links stoppage-time strike.
“We are happy to go back to Cape Town with the three points, I won’t say it was deserved but I think sometimes we ride our luck. The three points move us closer to the top,” said McCarthy.
“I am happy for the boys that we were able to stay focused and not concede because that’s been the problem. We score with some ease but we also concede with ease. It is nice that we were able to keep a clean sheet,” he added.
McCarthy was pleased with Kermit Erasmus’ debut as the former Orlando Pirates forward played the entire 90 minutes but looks to have picked up a bit of a knock in the process.
“It was his first game and his movement was good, he looks hungry and fit but I am worried about the little knock he picked up. We hope it is not serious because we just found ourselves a really good, hungry and positive striker and to lose him to injury would be a major blow,” said McCarthy.
He added that he expects a good return of goals from the 28-year-old.
“He will bring us goals, mobility and intelligence. We are able to link him up with Ayanda Patosi because in some games we are going to have to play with the two of them up front. If we can get the combinations right, then we’ll have a front pair that can scare a lot of teams in the league and then we have to make sure we keep it solid at the back.”
