Brockie close to Sundowns exit

Jeremy Brockie’s agent, Mike Makaab, says Mamelodi Sundowns has not indicated if the striker is part of their plans or not for next season.

Makaab confirmed that the striker was not happy with the lack of game time at Sundowns and they could be looking for a new club should Sundowns’ technical team leave him on the bench next season.

The agent revealed that there were several clubs in the PSL who are interested in signing Brockie. Makaab said clubs from outside of South Africa had asked about the player’s availability.

“Kaizer Chiefs have not shown the interest that the media is talking about. I don’t know where that comes from. Those are just rumours. There are clubs that are interested in him locally but we also have clubs outside the country, especially in Europe,” Makaab was quoted by IOL.

“So, we’ll be looking at all the opportunities for Jeremy. He is (still) a Sundowns player and he will start pre-season training with them.

“Obviously, we’ll work hard to make sure that we find a solution for both the club and Jeremy. But if that solution doesn’t suit Jeremy, he will stay at Sundowns.

“They haven’t made it clear that he is not part of their plans for the new season but they have indicated their style of play doesn’t suit Jeremy’s strengths. Jeremy is a goalscorer. For two seasons, he was [the] highest goalscorer in South Africa by far,” Makaab explained.
