Brockie targets league title with Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns’s marquee signing Jeremy Brockie has urged the Absa Premiership pacesetters to hold steady as the race towards the league title intensifies.

Brockie has the opportunity to make his Sundowns debut on Saturday when Masandawana host struggling Platinum Stars in the capital city.

“If we start taking things lightly in this league that’s when slip ups happen so we have to put our foot down and focus on trying to win the trophy,” said Brockie.

“Sundowns are a club that has got great history in the country and on the continent and we are in a nice position (in the league) at the moment but we should not take that for granted. I don’t think anyone would have thought that Free State Stars would be second on the log at the moment.”

The New Zealand-born striker banged in 54 goals for SuperSport United in 81 appearances. He is expected to take up the role of Pitso Mosimane’s main man in the side’s frontline.

“I believe that the puzzle will fit,” he said.

“I’ve said it before that I can’t do what Themba Zwane, Aubrey Ngoma or Percy Tau can do with the ball on their feet but I feel that I will be able to complement the way that they play and the chances that they create,” the Kiwi added.
