Celtic sell Ndengane to Pirates to cover salaries – report

Celtic announced earlier this week that they had parted ways with the 31-year-old defender.

Bloemfontein Celtic’s cash-strapped boss Max Tshabalala has reportedly sold Alfred Ndengane to Orlando Pirates for an estimated R5 million in a bid to pay players’ salaries and signing-on fees to avoid another strike.

Celtic announced earlier this week that they had parted ways with the 31-year-old defender.

SunSport, however, reports that Ndengane will only play in the Caf Champions League as the transfer window is closed in South Africa until January.

Ndengane was said to be among the four players who refused to train due to non-payment.

Tshabalala, who is said to in dire financial straits, has been battling to keep pay the players’ salaries in recent months.

He has reportedly approached the PSL for financial help so he can pay the players, who have previously gone for months without payments.

Celtic, who have made a brilliant start to the season, are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns at home at the Dr Molemela Stadium tonight.
