Chiefs set for goalkeeper clear-out

Kaizer Chiefs are set to release two goalkeepers at the end of the season.

According to a source at Amakhosi, Daniel Akpeyi and Virgil Vries will be released by the club in June.

“Management have met with (Ernst) Middendorp over releasing the Akpeyi and Vries. The coach believes (Bruce) Bvuma has proven himself in the last few matches and earning a call up to Bafana Bafana seems to have given him confidence and the club now believes he is good enough to be the club’s second choice goalkeeper,” the source told Phakaaathi.

The source added that Chiefs are set to use the salary package of one of the keepers to give Bvuma an improved deal.
