Chiefs starlet goes under the knife

Kaizer Chiefs young midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has undergone a successful operation to repair the damage on his heel.

The 19-year-old has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles tendon rupture during Chiefs’ 1-1 draw against SuperSport United earlier this month.

Chiefs team doctor Hashendra Ramjee has confirmed that the South African junior international has since undergone surgery last Wednesday.

“The surgery went well,” Ramjee told the club’s website.

“At this stage, the focus is to recoup from the surgery, before we enter the stage of recovery,” he added.

As a result of his injury setback, Ngcobo is set to miss the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland in May.
