Chiefs under no pressure to announce signings – Motaung

Motaung said this as Chiefs came under pressure from the club’s fans for their inactivity in the transfer market.

With Pirates announcing nine new players, among them former Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo, Chiefs fans are up in arms calling for the club to announce its plans for the new season.

Motaung, however, says Chiefs will announce new players when they are ready.

“We are not under pressure. It is still early. We will announce our changes at an appropriate time. Does the fact that everybody is signing mean that we should also sign?

“Does it does mean that when Pirates make announcement we must also make announcement? Why should we be worried that Pirates and Sundowns are signing new players? We will announce players when we are ready,” Motaung told IOL.

It is believed Chiefs are on the verge of signing Madagascar international Andriamirado ‘Dux’ Hasina after his impressive showing at the 2018 Cosafa Cup.

Amakhosi are also said to have acquired the services of an unknown African striker, who was a top goalscorer for the league he is playing in last season.

The club has also been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns forward Anthony Laffor, as well as Black Leopards striker Joseph Mhlongo.
